Join our team!Location: Las Cruces, NM Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour Schedule: Monday – Thursday Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PMIf you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes, and have experience with grounds maintenance equipment and irrigation systems, we'd love to have you on our team!Position SummaryAs a Grounds Maintenance Worker, you will help maintain landscaped grounds and highway rest areas according to contract standards. This position plays an important role in ensuring public areas remain safe, clean, and well-maintained while supporting our mission of providing quality services to the community.What You'll DoYour responsibilities will include:Maintain grounds and rest areas according to contract schedules and quality standardsOperate tractors, riding mowers, and other landscaping equipmentMow medians, roadways, shoulders, and landscaped areasTrim grass and vegetation in hard-to-reach areasMaintain desert landscaping and apply weed and pest control treatmentsRepair and maintain irrigation systems, including Rain Bird valves, sprinkler heads, timers, pipes, wiring, and fittingsDig trenches for irrigation repairsPerform preventive maintenance on equipment, including lubrication and fluid checksRepair and replace cable fencing, posts, and hardwareInspect outdoor areas for hazards and report maintenance needsFollow all safety procedures and properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Assist with rest area repairs and occasional custodial dutiesRemove snow and ice when necessaryProvide courteous assistance to members of the publicComplete additional assignments as directed by the supervisorQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GEDExperienceMinimum of 3 years of experience in: Grounds maintenanceIrrigation systemsTractor and mowing equipment operationRequired Licenses & CertificationsValid Driver's LicenseCurrent Weed/Pest Control Applicator License (Required)Background Checks RequiredEmployment is contingent upon successfully completing:General Background CheckMotor Vehicle Record (MVR)Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusions CheckNew Mexico Department of Health FingerprintingWhat Makes You SuccessfulWe're looking for someone who:Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditionsCan safely operate landscaping equipment including riding mowers, edgers, chainsaws, and blowersWorks well independently and as part of a teamHas strong problem-solving skills and attention to detailIs dependable, flexible, and safety-mindedCan communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and speaking)Can adapt to changing priorities and assignmentsWhy Join Our Team?When you join our team, you'll enjoy:Four-day workweek with three-day weekends every week Competitive pay Opportunity to work outdoors and stay active A supportive team environment Meaningful work that helps keep public spaces safe, attractive, and welcomingIf you're ready to put your skills to work and take pride in maintaining the beauty and safety of our community, apply today!Equal Employment Opportunity StatementWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
